The Lord's Supper

If you visit us on a Sunday morning, you will observe Christians in assembly fellowship gathered around a small table furnished with a loaf of bread and a cup of wine. This is done to obey the request of our Lord Jesus Christ when He said; "This do in remembrance of me." Toward the end of the meeting, the bread is passed from believer to believer and each one takes a small portion as a remembrance of the body of our Lord Jesus Christ which was given for us on the cross of Calvary. The cup of wine will then be passed in like manner; thus we remember the precious blood of Christ poured out at the cross for our sins. The apostle Paul could write in 1 Corinthians 11:25-26,"For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till He come."

As a visitor, not knowing the order and perhaps not known to any believers, you will be directed to a seat at the back to observe the carrying out of this most solemn remembrance. (read 1 Corinthians 14:16) No discourtesy is intended and all are welcome to "come and see." This is a primary scriptural function of a New Testament church of God.

It is our hope and prayer that all true believers will have the God-given desire to take their place in the fellowship of a scripturally gathered New Testament assembly. You may also observe the scriptural practice (Romans 16;1; 2 Corinthians. 3:1) of the reading of a letter of commendation concerning a visiting believer desiring to take part of the Lord's supper. These letters are intended to commend a fellow believer from a distant assembly, or someone who has moved into the area and is unknown to the believers here, thus preserving the character and holiness of the assembly as well as the testimony to the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

There are NEVER any public collections taken. Only those in the fellowship of the assembly bring an offering on Lord's Day morning, which is taken at the end of the meeting by the passing of a collection box.
